We started this week off right by decorating some yummy gingerbread boy and girl cookies! Here are some pictures of us in action!
We started talking about one more (What is one more than 5? ... Six). Next week we will be learning about one less.
Ways to practice:
-Ask your child "What's one more than ___ (any number between 0 and 9)"
If your child has a hard time with this, write down the numbers from 0 to 10 and then have them try again while looking at the number line.
***We are still working on writing our numbers correctly so that is another way to practice at home!
This week we read the book The Gingerbread Girl. Ask your child how this book is similar to and different from The Gingerbread Boy (we read that one last week). Here is a Venn Diagram that we made together as a class, and here is a picture of our gingerbread boys and girls!
We are also practicing reading and writing our sight words! (The list of words I sent home on bright pink paper!)
Note: We do have fun holiday events and "gifts" planned for next week -- If you know your child won't be here any day next week (especially Thursday), please let me know so I can make sure they can still participate as well as give and receive the holiday gifts!
Have a great weekend!!!
*****This Newsletter Blog will be updated at the end of each week! I will post pictures, bulleted points, and an explanation of exciting events from throughout the school week. The only pictures posted will be of the students whose parents indicate on the Media Disclosure Form that it is okay to publish their pictures online.
