GO WELLS WARRIORS!
I think the kids would agree that the big highlight of this week was this afternoon when the Wells High School Football team paraded through our school! The senior players also came to our classroom so we could personally wish them good luck! Here are some pictures of us making our posters, cheering for the players, and wishing the players good luck!
In math we are continuing to work on writing our numbers in our best handwriting, writing numbers in order, counting to 20 without leaving any numbers out, and adding within 5.
Some ways to practice at home:
-Have your child practice writing their numbers
-Ask your child to count to 20 (without leave any numbers out!)
Below is a math turkey craft we did yesterday!
This week we continued to work on reading short 'a' word families, using reading strategies while reading, reading kindergarten sight words, writing upper and lower case letters correctly and neatly, and writing words and sentences to match our drawing/crafts.
Short a word families:
-at (ex. cat, hat, mat, sat, etc.)
-ag (ex. tag, bag, rag, lag, etc.)
-ap (ex. cap, tap, lap, map, etc.)
-an (ex. tan, ran, fan, van, etc. **these ones are the hardest because the "a" sounds different!)
We are working on the first column of the sight word list I gave you (bright pink paper)
Reading strategies we know:
-Pointer puppy (pointing to the words as you read)
-Eagle eye ( using the pictures to help us with the words)
-Lips the fist ( getting your mouth ready to sound out the word)
These are all things that can be practiced at home, too!
Here are our patterned corn on the cobs we did earlier in the week and a turkey craft we started yesterday and finished today!
*****This Newsletter Blog will be updated at the end of each week! I will post pictures, bulleted points, and an explanation of exciting events from throughout the school week. The only pictures posted will be of the students whose parents indicate on the Media Disclosure Form that it is okay to publish their pictures online.
