This week we finished the alphabet (on Tuesday)! On Wednesday, we enjoyed some alphabet cookies while we worked in our centers! Next week we will be starting lowercase letters, while still reviewing uppercase and mastering letter sounds.
Here are some pictures of students working at English Language Arts Centers! One picture is showing a group working hard matching their uppercase cookies to the lowercase letter on their paper. They got to enjoy eating the cookies after they finished!
In math, we worked on mastering counting the math way and counting backwards from 5. This work will continue into next week!
Ask your child to show you how to count the math way (start with your hand in a fist and the pinky goes up first).
On Friday, we did an Oreo experiment! For the experiment we were trying to answer the question: will a stack of 5 double-stuffed Oreos weigh more than, less than, or equal to 5 double stuffed Oreos laid flat? We had a discussion prior to the experiment and made predictions about what we thought would happen. Then, we tested it. Ask your student what the results were (they weighed the same amount)! After the experiment with the double-stuffed cookies, we did the same thing with the mini Oreos. Where the results the same? Ask your child! (Yes)
And after all the hard work, we did get to eat the Oreos!
*****This Newsletter Blog will be updated at the end of each week! I will post pictures, bulleted points, and an explanation of exciting events from throughout the school week. The only pictures posted will be of the students whose parents indicate on the Media Disclosure Form that it is okay to publish their pictures online.
