Early this week we finished up with our Fall/Turkey/Thanksgiving themed activities, and on Friday, we moved right into Holiday/winter activities! (The kids were VERY excited) Please let me know if you celebrate a winter holiday other than Christmas so we can honor that in our Winter Celebrations!
I'm realizing that I forgot to send this cute picture of the kids before Thanksgiving break. On the Tuesday before break, we did many Turkey themed activities and the kids moved around to the different kindergarten classrooms. In one classroom they made turkey bodies and a turkey feather hat (you probably saw these come home!)
In ELA we have learned about the short o word families - og and op. Ask your child to tell you some of the words in those families! (og words = log, fog, hog, dog, frog ---- op words = cop, hop, pop, top)
Two weeks ago we were learning the short a word families. That would be a good thing for them to still practice, too! (ap words = lap, sap, tap, clap --- ag words = tag, rag, sag, bag, lag --- ad words = dad, sad, mad, lad --- at words = cat, fat, mat, hat).
In MATH we are working on simple addition within 10. We are also still practicing counting to 20 without leaving any numbers out, and we have started watching counting to 100 videos!
Here is a link to a YouTube channel that has many videos kindergarteners! There are some great math videos on counting and shapes, as well as ELA videos on sight words!
There is a new album of pictures on the classroom collage page, too!
Have a great weekend!!
*****This Newsletter Blog will be updated at the end of each week! I will post pictures, bulleted points, and an explanation of exciting events from throughout the school week. The only pictures posted will be of the students whose parents indicate on the Media Disclosure Form that it is okay to publish their pictures online.
