We had so much fun this week!
In math we continued practicing early addition with number bonds, while introducing the plus and equals symbol.
We also practiced our "making 6" facts with some heart cookies! See the action shots and examples below!
On Wednesday (early release day), we did a fun S.T.E.M. activity! First we watched a science video on why snow is white (ask your child why!), then the kids were put into groups of 3 and with 15 marshmallows, 10 mini marshmallows, and 20 toothpicks they had to build the tallest free standing snowman with their team. This was a challenging task but the kids had so much fun AND learned a lot about working with a team! Here are some pictures!
Your child will start to bring home paper books at least once a week. These books are to be kept and practiced at home!
VALENTINE'S DAY is Wednesday - Please make sure your child brings in their filled out Valentines by Wednesday morning! Please also make sure there is a Valentine for everyone in the class! Below is a picture of our Valentine's Day bags -- you can use it as a check list if you need to!
*** Students who haven't decorated their bag will do so before Valentine's Day!
100TH DAY OF SCHOOL is Thursday! Please make sure your child brings in their 100 items (that fit in the ziplock I sent home) on Thursday!!!
*** If your child has been absent and you would like practice work for them let me know!
*****This Newsletter Blog will be updated at the end of each week! I will post pictures, bulleted points, and an explanation of exciting events from throughout the school week. The only pictures posted will be of the students whose parents indicate on the Media Disclosure Form that it is okay to publish their pictures online.
