We had a lot of Dr. Seuss and reading fun this week!!! Here are some pictures of us in the Seuss Photo Booth and our guest reader on Friday!
In Reading and Writing this week, we finished up ALL our short vowels. We will continue to practice words with short vowels all year, though!
Ways to practice at home - your child can practice reading and writing 3 letter short vowel words (cat, hat, lip, hit, met, job, log, etc.)
Next week we will start beginning blends, which are two letters at the beginning of a word whose sounds blend together (examples - slap (sl is the blend), grab, crab, etc.)
At how students can be practicing counting to 100 by 1's and 10's, writing numbers in order to 20 and addition within 10. We will continue with addition next week!
In your child's yellow folder you will find a math paper that hasn't been started. At the top it says "Lesson 16 Homework". This paper is optional - but if your child completes it to the best of their ability/understanding and brings in it on Monday they will get to pick from the prize bin!
Also in folders will be a Reading Passport - the librarian gave this to everyone in the school! She will send information and directions home on Monday!
The kids also filled the Marble Jar again and voted to have a picnic lunch outside! This will happen next week! I will send out an email once I check the weather. Students who buy lunch will be able to get a travel tray for their hot lunch to go outside!
Have a great weekend!
*****This Newsletter Blog will be updated at the end of each week! I will post pictures, bulleted points, and an explanation of exciting events from throughout the school week. The only pictures posted will be of the students whose parents indicate on the Media Disclosure Form that it is okay to publish their pictures online.
