On Friday the 13th, we got to meet up with our Book Buddies again! Normally Friday the 13th is full of Bad Luck.... But, our KIND Book Buddies brought us a little good luck AND two pumpkin books to add to our class library!!!
Ask your child about the "Spread Kindness Throughout our School" project we did with our buddies!
We continue to work hard on fluently identifying upper and lower case letters and letter sounds!
This week the letters we focused on were U, V, W, and X. You can ask your child to tell you the letter name, sound, and a word that starts with that letter. We are still practicing so hints might be helpful!
Kindergarten Jump Start (KJS) will be ending next week. By Wednesday, we will have spent one day on each of the 26 letters in our alphabet! Continuing to practices letter identification (upper and lower case) and letter sounds is VERY important. There are GREAT and entertaining videos you can watch with your child to support and enhance your child's learning in our classroom. Here are some links! Let me know how you and your child like the videos! (The kids have some great dance moves to go with some of the videos, too!)

We finished up our shapes unit and began the Numbers to 10 unit! Ask your child to show you how to "count the math way" on their hand. (Hint: it starts with a fist and a pinky)
Whenever a moment lends to it, ask your child to count objects (no more than 10 objects for now **** counting forward or counting backwards -- we worked on counting backwards from 5 on Friday). Counting cars in the driveway, counting bites of food, counting birds in the garden --- ANYTHING works!
Also, ask your child about:
-Earning marbles as a class
-Mindfulness ~ being aware of your feelings and thoughts - based on Yoga for Classrooms (VERY new to us!) Ask them about balloon breath and the "washing machine"
Have a great weekend!!!
*****This Newsletter Blog will be updated at the end of each week! I will post pictures, bulleted points, and an explanation of exciting events from throughout the school week. The only pictures posted will be of the students whose parents indicate on the Media Disclosure Form that it is okay to publish their pictures online.
